"Twenty years ago, walking one of my daughters back from school, I had my first acquaintance with one of Carmen Mir’s Crisalidas. It was looking at me through the glass of an exhibition in one of the main avenues in Havana. It was love at first sight. Captivated by its exuberant and rare beauty, I entered the hall, even when I was exhausted by the tropical heat of Havana. I completely forgot that I was going HOME! There I met the other Crisalidas. I ended up being introduced to their fantastic creator, one of the most special and sensitive Cuban artists of modern times. The rest of the story could be the subject of a book. Time passed, I settled in the U.S.A. and I’m proud to share my life and my family’s with a Crisalida!"
